The Bumble Inn

Peterborough’s first micropub, The Bumble Inn opened in a former chemist’s shop back in 2016 and has been winning over real ale fans ever since — including a run of CAMRA branch Pub of the Year awards. It’s a small, minimalist space with five hand pumps pouring an ever-changing line-up of real ales from breweries around the country, alongside craft kegs, bottles and cans for anyone after something different. There’s no big food menu and no fruit machines or loud music — just good beer, knowledgeable staff, and proper conversation. It’s the kind of place regulars swear by and visitors are pleasantly surprised to stumble on. If you fancy something to eat, Nepalese food is available to order in from next door, which suits the relaxed, unpretentious mood perfectly. It’s a five-minute walk from the station and an easy stop on a night that starts elsewhere in the city centre. We’d point guests here who want a genuine, low-key local experience rather than a big commercial bar — small, honest, and consistently well run.
